How the numbers work
The platform fee is the marketplace’s own cut, using each one’s published rate. Payment processing is charged on top by PayPal, Stripe or the card network, and it depends on how the buyer pays. We use one estimate for every marketplace so you can compare the platform fees like for like. The default of 3.49% + $0.49 is PayPal’s standard rate, so lower it if your marketplace has negotiated a better one (PayPal through Tebex, for example, is 2.49% + $0.40).
Taxes, currency conversion, refunds and chargebacks aren’t included. Fees were checked in October 2026 and marketplaces change them, so confirm on each marketplace’s own pages before you set a price.
Fees aren’t the whole story
The cheapest marketplace isn’t automatically the best one. Audience size, buyer budgets and whether you can protect the plugin all matter. SpigotMC has the biggest audience and no fee, but caps prices at $19.99 and bans licensing in premium plugins. Questions
BuiltByBit charges a 9.9% platform fee on each sale, plus a payment gateway fee per transaction. Featured resource ads are optional and charged on top, only on sales that came from a featured placement.
Voxel Shop’s platform fee defaults to 2% of the pre-tax price. Sellers can opt into a 4% or 8% tier in exchange for extra tools and perks. A payment processor fee is added depending on how the buyer pays. Withdrawals in USD by ACH, IBAN or wire are free, with a 0.75% fee for currency conversion.
Tebex’s standard platform fee is 5% (FiveM is 15%), plus gateway fees. For example, PayPal through Tebex is 2.49% + $0.40. Tebex acts as merchant of record, so it handles sales tax and VAT for you.
No. SpigotMC takes no platform fee and buyers pay you directly through PayPal, so you only pay PayPal’s fees. Premium resources are capped at $19.99, and SpigotMC’s premium guidelines prohibit licensing systems of any form.
BuiltByBit, Voxel Shop and Tebex all work with license systems, and MC License automates key delivery on all three. Voxel Shop requires licensing to work out of the box with no extra steps for the buyer. SpigotMC does not allow licensing systems in premium resources.
